Military Projects
As the Department of Defense continues to implement its long range plan to bring more personnel, equipment, aircraft and high-level defense technology to the western seaboard, while improving the quality of working and living conditions for individuals who serve, Certified Air Conditioning remains a consistent and successful military construction partner. We have completed millions of dollars of complex HVAC installations on military projects throughout California, including the DOD’s BSL Lab for avian flu research, SCIFs, armories, dental clinics, mess halls, commissaries and more.
BSL Lab - Pt. Loma, California
A “Level 3” testing laboratory, this highly secured health research center is currently leading the charge in isolating, identifying and working to develop cures for strains of avian flu – known more commonly as bird flu. Certified Air Conditioning furnished and installed a 100% pass through split heating/cooling system and exhausts systems with HEPA filtration and DDC controls. An independent testing agency was used to verify that all building operations met required Class III commissioning specifications, including critical room pressurization. Note: Certified Air Conditioning Service Division also provides ongoing maintenance and testing at the BSL Lab, to continuously verify particulate counts and ensure proper operation of all installed equipment and systems.
Assault Amphibian School Battalion - Camp Pendleton, California
The Amphibious Assault Vehicle complex is the center for training, maintenance and repair of the Amphibious Assault Vehicles. This design/build project contains multiple high bay areas for vehicle maintenance and repairs, with gas fired unit heaters, exhaust fans, fresh air and a sophisticated system to allow for proper ventilation of these areas. In addition to providing central chiller plant, cooling towers, custom air handlers, large duct and DDC controls, Certified Air Conditioning designed and installed a vehicle exhaust system - when the vehicles are being serviced, a high-temperature hose is hooked to the vehicle exhaust to extract the fumes from the facility.
Weapons and Armament Technologies Center - China Lake, California
Design/build of this 177,000 sq. ft. project features a 660-ton custom built modular chiller plant and cooling tower – along with five massive custom air handlers and steam humidification units for the engineering bays, DDC controls and some of the largest ductwork we have ever installed.
